Residex’s Gary Riccio Retires
After 35 Years
SARASOTA, Fla.
—
Gary Riccio, sales service manager for Residex, Sarasota, Fla.,
retired from the company, after 35 years of service. His career
in the pest control industry began in 1969 as a service technician.
Working for Western Pest Services, Riccio was quickly promoted
to supervisor and broadened his skill to include fumigation,
which helped him to make his way to Florida and eventually to
take part in Residex’s opening of their first warehouse in the
sunshine state.
Riccio was honored recently at the Delaware Short Course. He
started his career with Western in Delaware. Residex hosted
a dinner with friends and co-workers from the north who all
wished him well in his retirement. Riccio was honored again
by Residex at an all-day retirement barbeque on his last official
day of work –
Feb. 27, followed by a retirement party for close family, friends,
and co-workers.
In
his retirement Riccio plans to pursue his passion by racing
his antique sports car and will fill his days working on his
race car and his wife’s Camaro. But don’t think you won’t see
Riccio around —
if you stop by the Residex office in Sarasota, you just may
spot him helping out occasionally.

Adam Putnam Announces for Ag Commissioner
Putnam set to give up seat
By: Patrick O'Connor
Rep. Adam Putnam, the third-ranking Republican in the House
until he relinquished that post late last year, will give up
his House seat to pursue a
bid as the next agriculture commissioner of Florida.
His decision to make this run has been the source of much speculation
since he gave up his post as chairman of the Republican Conference
on election night last fall. Most Floridians view the commissioner’s
job as a stepping stone to the governor's office.
But his announcement marks the departure of a rising star in
the party who has decided to pursue a state office rather than
remain in Washington, where Republicans face deeper minorities
in the House and Senate.
Putnam, 34, was first elected to the Florida state house when
he was 22 years old. He was the youngest member of the House
when he was first elected in 2000.
Former Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.) took Putnam under his
wing during the later years of Republican dominance, and House
Minority Leader John A. Boehner (Ohio) believed he would eventually
turn the caucus over to Putnam and party Whip Eric Cantor (Va.)
whenever he decided to leave the chamber.
But Putnam grew frustrated with the partisanship in the House
and earned the scorn of colleagues for his strident support
of a rescue plan for Wall Street last fall.
Putnam will file paper papers tomorrow to launch his bid for
the agriculture commissioner's post, and will give up his seat
next year after serving out his entire term.

FPMA Members and
Friends,
The
Professional Women in Pest Management (PWIPM), an affiliate organization
of the Nati onal
Pest Management Association (NPMA), is proud to announce its support
for
“Dress
for Success”, as its 2008-2009 community initiative. Dress for
Success which was founded in 1997, is an international non-profit
organization that promotes economic independence for disadvantage
women. By providing women with professional attire, a support
network through its Professional Women’s
Group and career development tools, Dress for Success affords
women the essential means to find and sustain full-time employment.
Guys,
please ask your wife, or family members, if they have any dress
clothes that may not fit anymore or may be out-dated for their
taste, to please give them to you and bring them to me in the
next two weeks. They also accept shoes and apparel. Be careful
about “if they don’t fit”. We women are very sensitive about the
“fit”. (J)
Girls,
please go through your closets, and ask your family members if
they have anything to add to our collection. I will be collecting
the clothes for the next couple of weeks.
Thanks
so very much! Now let’s get some clothes in!!!!

further information, go to www.dressforsuccess.org.
